Winner Best Tourism Business 2006

Glen Innes Examiner Business Awards

On nomination the Glen Innes Examiner reported:-

After more than 25 years in the strawberry business, the enthusiasm Cecily & David Tarrant have for the humble strawberry hasn't dwindled.   The couple operates The Super Strawberry, which has been in the family since it's inception, the brainchild of Cecily's parents.

Located on the New England Highway, just south of Glen Innes, The Super Strawberry is open all year round boasting a selection of the finest strawberries, (grown locally during the summer and sourced from other growers in winter), and dried and fresh lavender grown on site.

Strawberries are harvested using a machine designed and manufactured by Cecily's father, Ivan March more that 30 years ago, and operated by local staff.   This unique machine, which has recently undergone a facelift, make strawberry picking easier for staff and ensures strawberries are kept in the best condition.   Fresh tomatoes grown at Guyra, and home made local jams, chutneyus and sauces tantalize the taste buds.   As does a fine selection of Byron Bay coffees, available with scones and pavlovas.   And, not forgetting luscious helpings of strawberries and cream, a feature the business is known for far and wide.

The store is filled with a wide variety of gifts, souvenirs and art works by Rhonda March which are on sale.

Featured in several publications including The Good Food Guide, The Australian Regional Food Guide and the NSW Lonely Planter Guide, The Super Strawberry attracts a lot of attention from those seeking the temptations of the succulent berry.

Super does everything imaginable to strawberries and is a great spot for a snack.

You can see the strawberry farm through the back window of this shop, so it’s no wonder your strawberry thick shake is so full of flavour.   The Tarrants have been growing the berries, then making the strawberry jam, and serving up strawberries and cream with their irresistible sponges and pavlovas.   They also sell local honey.
